Moore County Gyms, Churches & Kids' Sports

By Blake Altman · Reviewed October 23, 2026

A weekly routine matters as much as a home's floor plan. Compare the places you actually plan to use: workouts, recreation programs and, if relevant to you, a faith community. Check those destinations separately from school assignments or a neighborhood's name.

The resources below are starting points, not a complete directory or a best-of ranking. Membership terms, access, youth eligibility and schedules belong to the operator. No club or congregation listing is an endorsement, and none determines which neighborhoods you should consider.

Verify before you go. Confirm membership terms, age limits, childcare, accessibility, registration windows and service schedules with the operator. Proximity does not grant membership or resident-only amenity access.

Pinehurst

FirstHealth Fitness — Pinehurst lists exercise equipment, group classes, training and an indoor pool. Ask about membership and the specific programs you would use; do not assume that nearby housing includes access.

Village Parks & Recreation publishes athletics, classes and programs through its department and registration catalog. Compare the current offerings with your household's ages and availability before choosing a program.

Southern Pines

FirstHealth Fitness — Southern Pines lists exercise classes, training and an aquatic center. Verify the center's current age requirements and class/pool schedule directly before enrolling.

Town Recreation & Parks publishes athletics, camps, classes and other programs. For youth sports, use the official catalog and ask about residency eligibility, registration windows and practice locations.

Aberdeen

Aberdeen Parks & Recreation publishes town programming and eligibility information. Resident and non-resident fees can differ, so confirm the rules for each program rather than assuming your mailing address establishes eligibility.

Use the Town's youth athletics page for current programs and linked league organizers. For a gym, compare providers' current memberships and class schedules, including neighboring-town options; this guide does not claim a complete Aberdeen gym directory.

Whispering Pines

FirstHealth Fitness — Whispering Pines lists cardio and weight equipment and member access arrangements. Check current membership and age rules with the center before signing up.

Village lakes and parks are for residents, property owners and their guests, not unrestricted public recreation. For organized sports, consult county and neighboring-town program listings and ask each organizer about eligibility; participation is not automatic.

Finding a church or faith community

Start with a congregation's own website or its denomination's directory, and confirm its current meeting location, service language, accessibility and children's programming directly. Service times and meeting spaces can change.

For one verified example, Redeemer Church's own site identifies it as a Presbyterian Church in America congregation meeting at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Southern Pines. This is an example, not a comprehensive or preferred list; Aberdeen's municipal site also provides a Churches directory link.

Choose a congregation according to your own preferences. Faith affiliation is not a basis for recommending or excluding residential neighborhoods.
